First Year

The first year is about learning classroom rhythm, concentration and independence, as well as grace and courtesy.

This year is mainly focused on the practical life and sensorial areas in the classroom. This area children practice their fine motor skills, with the goal of increasing concentration and independence. We present everything in a scaffolded and logical order increasing in difficulty and the way we read top to bottom - left to right.

Sensorial - Children are hands on learners and learn through their senses.

Second Year

Year one prepared the way with the goal of increasing concentration for longer lessons, and abstract thinking. The basis for Math and reading. Children continue to develop their own self discipline and love of learning through freedom of choice moving more towards abstract thought using concrete materials that have a built in purpose and are self-correcting.

Third Year

The capstone year. This is the 5 to 6 age and we call it the passage to abstraction. Here we focus on advanced materials, the child will also take on more of a leadership role.

Please note: We know no two children are alike and our goal is to guide the children on their own learning path. I always like to say from an academic standpoint that results may vary. A Montessori school looks at the child as a whole and not just what is measured through tests.
